Dominica and Cuba: How you can help after the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria

Dominica and Cuba were also hit hard by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Cuba we haven’t found  information on any direct local resources for how to help yet, but Dominica has several options for local charities and local-affiliated fundraisers. With 80% of their buildings damaged or gone, Dominica, especially, is in dire need of resources.

How to help:

Dominica Hurricane Maria Relief (GoFundMe)

The Dominica-American Relief & Development Association (DARDA) is hosting this GoFundMe to benefit victims of Hurricane Maria.

Hurricane Maria Relief Fund (GoFundMe)

Set up bySofía Gómez and Jonathan Sunnex, this relief fund is intended to help the people in immediate need and to help with the rebuilding of the villages of Soufriere and Scott’s Head. All proceeds will go towards this cause.

The Puerto Rico and Carribbean Hurricane Relief Fund

Global Giving has set up this fund to help Puerto Rico, Dominica, and several other Caribbean islands impacted by the hurricanes

Dominica Hurricane Relief Fund

The government of Dominica is collecting donations through JustGiving. The money will go toward temporary roofing, blankets and non-perishable foods.

National charities are helping as well, including AmeriCares (medical supplies), Habitat for HumanityConvoy of Hope, Direct Relief (medical supplies), and International Medical Corps.
